I earned my Master of Divinity at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado in 2009 and I also hold a Master of Education from the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia.  A native of Colorado I am greatly blessed to have been married to Sherri for 37 years and am the father of two children, Kelli and Kevin.  We have seven grandchildren and are so fortunate to have all of them living in the metro area.  In 2010, following one tour in the United States Air Force, where I met Sherri while stationed at Offutt AFB, I retired from a 32-year career with Lockheed Martin.  Sherri and I have been doing infant foster care for 26 years and have been privileged to have fostered 126 babies.   My hobbies include golf (a true but dedicated hacker), photography, fishing, gardening, and reading.

I was ordained into Christian Ministry in the United Church of Christ in 2013 following a call by Mountain View United Church to serve as its Minister of Social Justice and Mission.  Prior to that I served as the Parish Associate at First Presbyterian Church of Littleton, Colorado.  I am also an ordained Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA).  Over the years, as a lay leader I have served in a wide variety of positions in the church.

The seeds of my passion for social justice were planted when I was in elementary school by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. whom I heard preach.  These seeds were watered and began to blossom while in seminary.  It was during that time I made the decision to move to the United Church of Christ drawn by its inclusiveness and commitment to ecumenicalism.  In the time between my graduation and call to serve at Mountain View I discovered that my passion is not parish ministry per se but rather in serving the church by being the voice and presence of the church in the external community advocating and working for social justice.

My personal theology is best described as progressive and process orientated and my approach to ministry is based upon 1 John 4:16, “So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world.” and John 13:34-35, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I am blessed and thankful to be serving in a congregation that lives out its commitment to social justice in response to Jesus’ commandment to “love one another.”   I invite you to join us!
